Racer Briefing

Hello everyone,

We thank you for entering The Hallam Chase and hope you’re looking forward to it. Please read the key race information below before Tuesday’s event.

Three key points

  1. You must attend the race briefing at 7:20
  2. You must register before the race briefing
  3. You must be familiar with the course map: View route map.

Race details

The Hallam Chase takes place on Tuesday 26th May, with the race starting at 7:30 pm at Hallam Cricket Club. You can find the location here: Open map.

The route includes three road crossings, so please make sure you are familiar with the course map before race day: View route map.

Arrival and registration

Registration will take place in the cricket pavilion, which is shown on this map: View cricket ground map.

You will be able to register from 6:30. Please make sure you are ready for the race briefing by 7:20 pm. Please allow enough time to collect your race number, attach it, and get yourself ready for the briefing and race start.

The race is handicapped, with the first runner setting off at 7:30 pm and the last runner around 30 minutes later. Your start time and race number will be given to you at registration.

You must be at the start area at least 5 minutes before your off time so you can be called when required.

Parking and access

Parking is limited nearby and will mostly be on residential streets in the surrounding area, so please consider sharing lifts, using public transport, or walking, running, or cycling where possible. Please also be courteous to local residents when parking.

The 51 bus stops just outside the cricket ground. If you are arriving close to 7:30 pm, please use the side access rather than the gate opening onto Sandygate Road, as that gate will be used by runners once the race starts.

Course, safety and support

The course will be well marked with tape, flags and arrows, and marshals will be positioned throughout the course, including at road crossings. The roads will not be closed and you must give way to cars and obey instructions from the marshals. The course has significant steep technical sections and stiles, please familiarise yourself with the course before the race and take care. Medical support on the night will be provided by Martin Steer. This is a handicapped race so expect lots overtaking. If you are the one overtaking, please be courteous and sensible and make the other runner aware of your intentions. Don’t be a dick.

Results and prizes

We have a good number of trophies and prizes, so please stay for the prize-giving after the race at around 8:30 . Full results will be posted online in the days following the event.

Sheffield’s finest pizza, P.R.E.A.M pizza will be onsite alongside food and drink, alcoholic and none, in the Hallam Cricket pavilion. It would be great if you stick around after your run to support those who are supporting the race.
